“I was born in Lourenço Marques (actual Maputo) in 1963, Mozambique, Africa. I lived there until I was 12. I danced for the first time in school during the period that the country was becoming independent. It was a revolutionary dance against the oppressive power of the Portuguese colonization.

The choreographer Francisco Camacho was responsible for some of the most celebrated group performances of Portuguese Contemporary Dance. “RIP” is the long-awaited piece after 6 years of research and creation of different projects other than a group piece for the stage.
This performance is both a follow-up of motives and ideas explored in his previous work and a step forward, advancing them into new grounds as well as integrating lines of research not hitherto present.


The interest for what precedes us, for what amounts to our construction, for what remains and what may come to pass. Palpably, Pastiche emerges from a reorganization of materials and compositions based upon existing premises of choreography. It is an organization of work that simultaneously embodies the research and enhancement of aesthetic figures and specific languages.
