Biographies

André de Mendonça Escoto Teodósio (b. 1977) attended Conservatório Nacional de Música, ESML and ESTC. He took part of the theatre company Casa Conveniente and collaborates regularly with Cão Solteiro. Besides the works developed with Teatro Praga, he directed several performances himself and wrote a number of plays. He staged the operas Metanoite (João Madureira), Outro Fim (António Pinho Vargas), Blue Monday (George Gershwin), Gianni Schicchi (Giacomo Puccini), and Émilie (Kaija Saariaho), together with the artist Vasco Araújo. He is also co-author of the dance piece Perda Preciosa, performed by CNB (Awarded Best Dance Piece by SPA). He writes regularly for several publications. He also records and collaborates with artists of different fields such as cinema, literature, visual arts and dance. His works have been presented worldwide.
 
Cláudia Jardim (b. 1977) has worked with Companhia de Teatro Sensurround, in stagings by Lúcia Sigalho (A Birra da Viva, Dedicatórias, Psicopata Apaixonado, Fora De Mim, Viagem à Grécia, Capriiiicho and Kizomba) and at Teatro da Cornucópia in stagings by Luís Miguel Cintra (Filodemo and Um Homem É Um Homem). She has recently established a creative partnership with Patrícia Portela (Anita Vai A Nada, Jogo das Perguntas). She also highlights the translation of Quartett by Heiner Müller and several workshops guided at Teatro Viriato, at Fórum Dança and at CNB.
 
José Maria Vieira Mendes (b. 1976) writes and translates theatre pieces. He has translated Beckett, H. Müller, Fassbinder, René Pollesch, Noël Coward and B. Brecht, etc. He has written over 15 plays (some of which translated and published in more than a dozen languages), as well as two opera librettos by Nuno Côrte-Real, and texts for the visual artist Vasco Araújo. He is a member of Teatro Praga since 2008. He runs workshops, teaches and has been invited to speak in various conferences. He recently finished his PhD thesis on theatre and literature.
 
Pedro Zegre Penim (b. 1975) completed his theatre studies at ESTC in 1998. He is a founding member of Teatro Praga. Outside of Teatro Praga, he has worked with the English Company Forced Entertainment (Quizoola!, 2014/2015), and the Belgian Tg.STAN (Point Blank, 1998), as well as with the stage directors Tim Etchells, Ricardo Pais, Nuno Carinhas, José Wallenstein and Antonino Solmer, among others. As stage director and actor, his work extends to writing, translating and teaching (ESTC, Balleteatro, etc.), and has been presented all through Portugal and in Europe. He has been awarded with several prizes in the theatre field. As stage director, he was
invited by Capitals in Discussion (CIFAS, Brussels, 2014), SP Escola de Teatro (São Paulo, Brazil) and was recently a jury of the multidisciplinary renowned competition Danse Élargie (Théâtre de la Ville, Paris).
