Partition
(Wooden bedsteads, tables, pieces of iron structures, microphones, tripods and many other objects found)
The initial drive for this work was to dig around actions like sharing, separating, or isolating parts of a whole figure made of found objects. The combination of diverse materials generate sound devices. It is from the dialog that arises between each of the parts and the whole of the spacial installation that the work gradually gain presence, as a hybrid object, a three-dimensional manifestation of an empty stage design, which gathers and disperses the attention on itself. This instrument-object connects to the space, being inhabited by performative actions that take place inside and that interferes with the disposition of its forms, maintaining a sense of openess and incompletitude. The scenario is part of the script of a fictional piece, consisting of noises produced inside, evoking the aridity of the assembly lines in large factories and the empty gestures associated with mechanical reproduction and repetition. The entire construction evolves with not much planification, rugged, groing indiscriminately with each new element that is progressivelly added to the space.
This piece was created for “Lugares de Viagem – Bienal da Maia 2015”, curated by José Maia. It was presented in three parts integrated in the exhibition “Um lugar cheio de tempo”.
