Isabel Galhano-Rodrigues studied General and Romance Linguistics at the University of Christian-Albrecht in Kiel, Germany. She is Professor at the Department of German Studies at the Faculdade de Letras of the Universty of Porto, researcher of the CLUP (Centro de Linguísticada Universidade do Porto) and of the CEAUP (Centro de Estudos Africanos da Universidade do Porto). She has focused her research into the micro-analysis of the multimodalities in face-to-face interaction. She studies the different kinds of relations between body movements and speech (including prosody) regarding their coordination, meaning and form under apsycholinguistic and an ethnographic perspective. One of the most attractive research objects is Portuguese spoken in different cultures, namely in the lusophone African countries. Other skills/activities: Contrastive Linguistics-Portuguese-German (and other languages); Pragmatics/Text-linguistics: use of language in specific contexts.
